Areas Jessica Korin is Knowledgeable in:

nuclear and chemical engineering, specifically BWR, nuclear medicine, chemical and nuclear laboratory procedures.

Techniques Jessica Korin Uses:

Applying engineering knowledge to find creative designs and solutions.
Use of technology, including Excel and Matlab, to write programs for problem solving

Jessica Korin's Problem Solving Skills:

  1. Engineering, nuclear
  2. Engineering, chemical

Jessica Korin's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. developed a prototype for a portable, military grade, radiation shielding structure
  2. I worked as a systems and reactor engineer at a BWR. Completed systems engineering training, collaborated with teams to troubleshoot system malfunctions including pump failures and elevated Iron levels. Managed, maintained, and troubleshooted Condensate Feedwater Systems. Designed multiple Excel programs using VBA programming to streamline data analysis. Used station reactor engineering software to manage and apply data analysis to rod bundles and helped design core rod placement. Assisted in managing station power ups, power downs, and backwater thermal flushes. Worked as a system engineer during a power refueling outage on multiple systems. Work included troubleshooting, system diagnostics, maintenance and repair, parts replacements, walkdowns, and the associated government reports.
  3. Research Technetium-99 elution from irradiated Ammonium Molybdate. Perform experiments under radioactive conditions. Analyze irradiated materials using gamma ray spectrometry and NAA. Compile a report containing theory, lab procedures, practical applications, and a complete explanation of all chemical reactions involved. Published author of “Development of a Radiochemistry Laboratory for the Production of TC-99M Using Neutron Activation” Attended and presented research at the American Society of Engineering Education annual conference in Honolulu Hawaii. Research Presented was my published graduate radiochemistry laboratory “Development of a Radiochemistry Laboratory for the Production of TC-99M Using Neutron Activation”
  4. Collaborated with teams to complete classified projects for homeland security organizations such as DOD, JIEDDO, DARPA, and others. Responsibilities ranged from writing white papers and proposals, performing chemical engineering calculations, inventing, designing, and constructing apparatuses for use in field tests, quantitative, qualitative, and statistical data analysis on resulting data, organizing field operations and literature research for projects, and working with a team to write up finished projects to present to clients.
