Joe Lutgen's Problem Solving Experience:
- I developed cutting edges on a wire cutting tool that resulted in a 50% reduction in force and was awarded a patent. I employed DOE techniques to find an optimal solution.
- I created a painting tool that helped the consumer paint around doors and windows. It was also awarded a patent.
- Created numerous mechanisms in IVD medical devices which are mostly proprietary and still under NDA's.
- I created an ergonomic knife with unique features for exposing the blade with a mechanism and the ability to adjust it in a variety of ways. These mechanism had to fit inside an ergonomic housing with tight space constraints.
- I created a mechanism that would collect microscopic magnetic beads and move and hold them to a location while being cleaned.
- Currently I am working on manufacturing costs out of a disposable medical device. I've creatively solve various aspects using known manufacturing methods to reduce costs and simplify assembly.
