Narayanan Selvapalam

Narayanan Selvapalam N. Selvapalam pursued his doctoral program at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and obtained his Ph.D. Degree in 1997. He got his first assignment in India as Biophysicist at Cancer Institute (WIA), Adyar, Chennai, where he pursued his research on Cancer drug discovery (1997-1998). Later he moved to Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore to work as a Research Associate for a year (1999-2000). In the year 2000, Dr. Selvapalam moved to South Korea to work as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) – Daejon, for a year and spent the remaining 13 years in South Korea at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) – Pohang, where he held the positions of Research Assistant and Associate Professors and worked extensively in the field of Surpamolecular Chemistry and obtained several publications and patents. After spending a decade in abroad, he returned to India and accepted the position of Assistant Professor at Kalasalingam University in Oct 2014 and exploring research work in multidisciplinary areas. In IIT Delhi, Dr. Selvapalam worked on Hemiter periods related compounds, which was published in RSC journals. His postdoctoral work at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) gained much reputation for him among the scientific community. At POSTECH, he spent more than a decade to work on the synthetic receptors such as Cucurbiturils and published his works in leading Journals such as Nature Chemistry and Journal of American Chemical Society. He resumed his research work at Kalasalingam University and guided many B.Tech final year projects for Engineering students and recently filed a patent in collaboration with Civil Engineering faculties. Dr. Selvapalam has so far published more than 38 papers in international journals and filed 21 national and International Patents. He has attended many international conferences throughout the world. Dr. Selvapalam is a Fellow of Korean Chemical Society (South Korea). Dr. Selvapalam has authored three major review articles in the reputed Journals such as Account of Chemical Research and Chemical Society Reviews. He is also one of the academic officers at Kalasalingam University and actively involved in the research and academic activities at this University.
