Dr. Omer Soykasap
I have developed the foundations for the successful realization and implementation of novel lightweight structure concepts and architectures for aerospace applications. I have worked on problems related to packaging, deployment, shape control and stability of deployable structures. Through a combination of experiments, analysis and numerical simulations I understand, explain and model the physical behavior of novel, lightweight structures and materials for aerospace applications including
• Design And Analysis Of A New Compactly Folded And Self Deploying Reflector Antenna for Ku-band telecommunication or X-band earth observations
• Establishment of Optimization-Oriented Aeroelastic Design and Analysis Methodologies for Hingeless-Bearingless Rotors
• Multiscale modeling of nano reinforced composite materials
• Lightning Strike Damage of CNT doped CFRP composites

Other researches include structural design, analysis, testing, optimization, structural dynamics, vibration, aeroelasticity, rotor dynamics, novel concepts for deployable and adaptive space structures, deployment kinematics and dynamics, analysis of lightweight structures and model verification studies; ultra-thin composite materials; bistable and multistable shells.
