I work from 2 avenues, Data, very data driven and analytical so can take data and work out patterns of problems, or break down the data into easily understandable sets of data and then plot the solutions, but also from a lean manufacturing breakdown, so heavily involved in things such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Analysis, Pareto Analysis, Collaborative thinking and general Plan Do Check Act processes. Also skilled in value steam mapping, process control and improvement.
Richard Jones's Problem Solving Experience:
- I am very much a situational thinker and problem solver, for example a recent project related to cash flow. By looking at a series of data, planning out a solution, it was possible to reduce stock (in a manufacturing environment) by £300K in less than 5 months.
- A machine would only run at a certain speed, by monitoring the speed of similar machines it was possible to use the data to identify a certain product type that was causing the machine to be slow. By then introducing a new manufacturing process it was possible to quadruple the speed of that machine over night.
