Often a product problem is presented by using it, seeing it or building it. Solution is something that comes as a daydream usually right away or not at all. Draw up the solution then break it down on paper or in my head to see if it could work. If it has potential, try to work out the size, difficulty in manufacturing, potential cost, potential market, then build a model if possible. Doing the processes myself has helped me understand the nature of materials and method to manufacture more perfectly.
