Areas Spencer Vance is Knowledgeable in:

Mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and physics.

Techniques Spencer Vance Uses:

Structured approach. First verbally defining the problem and laying out the concepts that will be fundamental to solve the problem, then applying/manipulating (possibly deriving) expressions to model the problem.

Spencer Vance's Problem Solving Skills:

  1. Overall understanding of engineering design process
  2. Calculus, vector and tensor analysis, Differential Equations, probability and statistics, Relativity, Quantum Mechanics
  3. Skilled at solving math, engineering, and physics problems

Spencer Vance's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. I derived an expression, and plotted the trajectory of a ping pong ball including all forces and effects acting on the ball during flight.
  2. Designed a cost efficient heat exchanger, modeled flow around a rotating wind (rotor), modeled control system for quad copter, derived friction equations, derived equations for pipe friction in fluid mechanics, modeled dynamic and static systems with equations, have created simulations used MATLAB, SolidWorks, and COMSOL multiphysics platforms.
  3. I have 5 years engineering schooling integrated with education in mathematics and physics. Have designed a prototype of a autonomous pool skimming filtration drone, and worked for an airline industry designing and analyzing wear tests and results.
  4. Have been involved in the Statics and Strength of materials analysis and design of an emergency shelter at John Brown University.
  5. I have 5 years experience in programming and completing projects in C++, C, VHDL. Some experience developing android applications, and experience designing embedded systems.
  6. Designed digital circuit for a coffee brewer, basic calculator, video games, and door locking system.
