Groundnut shell, Nigeria
Bio-conversion of agrowastes such as sorghum wastes, groundnut shell, rice bran, plantain peel etc is a way of cleaning off environment from land and air pollution that resulted from burning. The bio-conversion will be done through solid state fermentation (i.e fermentation in the presence of moisture which are free flowing in a dark container at a time which could range from 6 hours to 7 days to activate fibrolytic and protease enzymes which help in breaking down fibres and improving protein respectively). Solid state fermentation is environmentally friendly. This research is geared towards alleviating poverty which is of different facets. For example groundnut shell attract little or no money; using this as fish feed ingredient will make this waste to attract monetary value. Hence fund generation by the shellers.
