“Research in Service-Oriented Architecture with IBM Technology”
Supervisor: MSc Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang and Dr Tran Minh Triet
Description: Studied about Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), IBM Software Development Process Model based SOA and then built application based on IBM SOA Foundation.
Thesis for Master degree :
“Development of a Process Modeling and Analysis Support System”
Supervisor: Prof. Yongsun Choi, Phd and Prof.Sangmun Shin, Phd
Description: To assist process designers in the creation and the analysis of their workflows, two kinds of software applications have been developed and proposed. The first tool is “Process Designer”. With this tool, human process designers can freely model their business processes in workflow graphs. The second tool is “Process Analyzer”. This tool help users to standardize their work, examine structure and work processes of organization. The goal of the thesis is to provide a set of several algorithms and a workflow analysis system that can be applied in several ways, for example in the loop identification, flow analysis in each loop, the verification of business processes. My system and these algorithms provide the foundation of a toolset, to assist designer and implementer in producing and analyzing correct business processes.

The reseach project at Ca’Foscari University of Venice, Italy :
“Addressing The Network Traffic Congestion Problem
With Revised-SAP-LAW approach”
Supervisor: Prof. Sabina Rossi, Phd and Prof.Andrea Marin, Phd
Description: When several TCP connections share the same access point (AP), a congestion avoidance/control mechanism is often adopted with the aim of assigning the available bandwidth to the clients with a certain fairness. When UDP traffic with real-time needs is present, the problem becomes even more challenging. In the literature, the most well-known congestion avoidance mechanisms are the Random Early Detection (RED) and the Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN). Recently, a new method for the congestion avoidance has been proposed: the Smart Access Point with Limited Advertised Window (SAP-LAW) which computes maximum TCP rates for the bottleneck taking into account the UDP traffic to keep a low queue size combined with a reasonable bandwidth utilization. In the presentation, we propose a new congestion control mechanism called Revised-SAP-LAW inspired by SAP-LAW heuristic formula. We propose a mean field model of Revised-SAP-LAW to compare ECN/RED, SAP-LAW and Revised-SAP-LAW under different scenarios.
