Adhesive Pill Releases Drugs Over Time

Adhesive Pill Releases Drugs Over Time
Apr-07-16
Researchers have designed a new pill able to attach to the stomach lining and provide continuous, long-term drug release.

The pill, created by a team from MIT, features a dual-side design: one side of the pill is coated with mucoadhesives which will attach to tissue, while the other side is designed to repel food and liquids that could detach it. The pill could be adapted for use with many drugs, and could reduce the frequency some medications need to be taken.
