AllSee Gesture Recognition Device Requires No Camera, No Batteries
Mar-03-14
Instead of a camera, the AllSee prototype device relies on TV signals to recognize gestures, which would allow it to read and respond to gestures even when tucked out of sight in a pocket or purse.

Once the AllSee sensor has been placed on a device, such as a smartphone, it uses its ultra-low-power receiver to analyze the way a person’s gesture disrupts the wireless signals in the air. Because no camera is required, the device can function even when out of sight. The AllSee also functions without batteries, instead pulling its power from the TV signals. This means the device could be left always on, without draining the phone’s battery.

The AllSee sensor technology could have applications in household electronics as well, allowing a new way to interact with Internet of Things devices.
