Aluminum Foam

Aluminum Foam
Oct-02-10
Aluminum foam is fireproof, sound-dampening, reflective and can absorb a high degree of impact force.

It is made by melting down recycled cans and adding a bubbling agent, resulting in a material that is up to 95% air, and looks like a sponge.

The military is incorporating the material into its Humvees.
