Apple Patents Pop-Up Joystick for iPhones

May-04-15 Apple has placed a patent for a pop-up, smartphone joystick that could enhance gameplay on iPads and iPhones.

Still in the concept stage, the joystick would feature both a normal mode and a gaming mode. According to the patent design, the spring-loaded joystick would be placed just beneath the home button, where it could be “popped up” by pressing down on the button. Once gameplay is over, the joystick could be returned to normal mode with another push to set it back into the device.
