Victims of stroke, facial injuries or degenerative muscle diseases may lose the ability to blink, which could cause damage to the eye or even blindness. Researchers have developed a bionic eyelid implant that restores the ability to blink, using an artificial muscle.
Researchers think the technology can be used on other small muscle functions that could help victims of Parkinson's and ALS recover use of facial muscles.
