Automated Insect Monitoring System Tracks its Captures

Automated Insect Monitoring System Tracks its Captures
Jun-11-17
The Automated Insect Monitoring System from Delta Five will send an email to announce what insects it has caught.

Designed with commercial properties in mind, the Automated Insect Monitoring System consists of a small, WiFi-enabled box that attracts and traps insects using non-toxic, odorless lures—such as heat or pheromones. Once the insect has been captured in the box, the system takes a photograph of it and sends the information to the assigned contact via email, in real-time.

Future versions might also recognize birds and other animals. Spotters would get an email when exact animals are in the wild or in a webcam. Maybe also stray pets would be located with a photo or a tag, although many of them already have a GPS.
