Bike Board Lets Riders Bike on the Snow

Jan-27-14 The BikeBoard takes a new twist biking by adding a ski underneath the front tire, letting cyclists extend their biking season through winter.

Traditional bikes designed for snow feature only extra-fat tires, which do provide some added support—but not enough for deep snow. To allow winter-biking enthusiasts to head into the deep, the Colorado-based company designed a pin and strap system that secures the ski to the front tie. The ski can be mounted in different positions, depending upon the conditions, and its full steel edge and sidecut curved tips allow it to stay on top of deep snow as well as grip and carve on ice and packed snow.

The BikeBoard can also be used without removing the bike’s wheels, allow the rider to still engage the drivetrain to bike on flat and uphill terrain—not just downhill.
