Bio-Glass Could Repair Damaged Cartilage

Bio-Glass Could Repair Damaged Cartilage
May-13-16
Researchers have create a novel self-healing bio-glass material that could be used to help repair damaged cartilage.

The material is made up of silica and a polymer known as polycaprolactone, and is not only flexible and durable, but can also self-heal. It can be produced as biodegradable ink and printed in different shapes, including a scaffold that could encourage natural cartilage cells to grow on it to replace the lost tissue.
