Bio-Patch Regrows Bone

Bio-Patch Regrows Bone
Nov-11-13
A bio-patch that sends bone-producing instructions directly to the cells could eventually be used to repair birth defects in the bones of the head and face.

The bio patch consists of a collagen platform embedded with particles that contain the genes needed to produce bone. It is placed directly on the site where the bone growth is desired, providing the surrounding cells with the genetic information needed to repair the damaged sites and ensuring sustained, internal therapy. Current therapies, in contrast, rely on repeated injections of genetic blueprints. The patch has already proved effective in trials on animals.

According to lead author Satheesh Elangovan, “We can make a scaffold in the actual shape and size of the defect site, and you'd get complete regeneration to match the shape of what should have been there."

The patch has been shown to nearly fully regrow missing skull.

The artificial production of adding absorbing materials to body.
The body already use a natural method to add cells to reconstruct damage areas.
Is not necessary to artificially add nothing to it.
Using the natural enhance of the body support and inside body system neurons to alert and provide the necessary elements to produce the materials needed is a direct natural method to correct any inside defect.
