BlueTipz Alerts Ice Fishers to Bites

BlueTipz Alerts Ice Fishers to Bites
Jan-07-14
The BlueTipz device was developed by a pair of Wisconsin fishermen to alert ice-anglers via smartphone when a fish has taken the bait.

The BlueTipz is a wireless transmitter that attaches to the ice fishing tip-up, a spring-loaded metal arm that pops up a flag when a fish is on the line. Although the flag signals a bite, ice fishers must constantly check the holes to see if a flag is up, and too much delay could allow the fish to escape. The BlueTipz eliminates the need for visual checks by sending a smartphone alert when a fish is on the tip-up, which also helps ice fishers remain in compliance with the laws that state tip-ups must be responded to immediately.

Flag goes up but sends out no signal when below freezing temperature. Fined for unattended line because of this thing.
