Compact ZIO Heart-Monitoring Patch Outperforms Traditional Options

Compact ZIO Heart-Monitoring Patch Outperforms Traditional Options
Jan-15-14
Designed to monitor heartbeat irregularities in ambulatory patients, the ZIO Patch is not only significantly smaller than conventional devices—it is also more accurate.

Developed by iRhythm Technologies, the adhesive, self-contained ZIO Patch can be worn on the chest for up to two weeks, then removed by the patient at home and mailed back to iRhythm. The data collected by the patch is then analyzed by the iRhythm team using a proprietary algorithm. According to physician reviews, data collected by the ZIO Patch allowed for a definitive diagnosis 90 percent of the time, compared to 64 percent of the time when using Holter monitor data.
