Cota Charges Devices Wirelessly from 30 Feet Away

Cota Charges Devices Wirelessly from 30 Feet Away
Oct-03-13
The Cota remote, wireless power system is able to deliver power wirelessly up to 30 feet, potentially changing the way we charge our devices.

Developed by Hatem Zeine of Ossia Incorporated, the Cota system consists of a patented smart antenna technology that uses phased arrays to focus a beam of microwaves precisely onto a receiver module. The Cota charger automatically locates devices equipped with Cota receivers, and is able to deliver power even as the objects are moved about the room. The technology is safe, and because the transmitter and device being charged do not have to be in close proximity, one transmitter should be sufficient for most households.

Cota plans to license the technology to consumer electronics manufacturers as well as make it available for retrofitting via an add-on dongle.
