DelFly Flapping, Intelligent Micro Air Vehicle

Dec-19-13 Inspired by the dragonfly, researchers have created the ultra-light DelFly Explorer—the world’s first wing-flapping, intelligent MAV.

The key technology in the DelFly Explorer is its lightweight stereo-vision camera and processor, which allows the device to adjust its trajectory and navigate automatically through unfamiliar environments. The 20-gram drone can also perform an autonomous take-off and maintain its height with help from its 1-gram autopilot, which is equipped with a processor, barometer, accelerometers and gyros.
