Electronic Brains Senors Dissolve After Use

Electronic Brains Senors Dissolve After Use
Jan-21-16
A new type of wireless, electronic sensors able dissolve harmlessly into the body after use could aid in the treatment of traumatic brain injury.

The sensors, made up primarily of polylactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) and silicone, are able to monitor the pressure and temperature of the brain, and then transmit that information to an external device. Since the sensors will dissolve over time, the chances of infection are reduced and the need for surgery to remove them is eliminated, drastically lessening the danger of complications.

The team also believes the dissolvable sensors could be used to monitor other organs in the body.
