Elipse Procedureless Gastric Balloon

Elipse Procedureless Gastric Balloon
Dec-12-15
The Elipse “procedureless” gastric balloon from Allurion Technologies is delivered as a capsule that is swallowed, eliminating the need for surgery or anesthesia.

Recently receiving clearance for use in Europe, the Elipse consists of a pill-sized, ingestible capsule attached to a delivery catheter. After the capsule reaches the stomach, the enclosed balloon is filled with a liquid, causing it to expand. The catheter is then detached, and the balloon remains in the stomach for about four months before releasing the liquid and passing on through the intestinal track.
