EnGo Charges Devices with Footsteps and Sun

EnGo Charges Devices with Footsteps and Sun
Sep-17-14
The EnGo charging station aims to encourage environmental awareness while also letting people charge their devices using a combination of solar and kinetic energy.

Developed by the Volta Group and installed at Webster University in St.Louis, the EnGo features an array of kinetic tiles and solar panels and enough outlets to charge up to 14 devices at one time. Users can access ten cables, two USB ports and two wireless charging pads, as well as free WiFi and an emergency intercom.

Although the EnGo station installed at the university is permanent, the Volta Group has also created a portable version—complete with wheels— that can be folded up for transport. They envision the portable unit being used at large public gatherings, such as sporting events or festivals.
