The Expandals are an evolution of The Shoe That Grows, an expandable shoe originally developed primarily for impoverished regions. But all kids need shoes, and so the GroFive team redesigned the shoe for consumer use, with bright colors and patterns. As the child’s foot grows, the straps on the front, heel and sides of the shoe can be loosened to allow the sole to lay flatter and increase the shoe’s size.
