Explorer Full-Body Scanner

Explorer Full-Body Scanner
Nov-21-18
The Explorer full-body scanner captures 3D images of the entire body in one quick scan.

Developed by teams from UC Davis and United Imaging Healthcare, the Explorer scanner relies on a combination of positron emission tomography (PET) and x-ray computed tomography (CT) to deliver high-resolution, whole-body scans in a little as 30 seconds. The system also requires lower doses of radiation tracers (up to 40 percent less than traditional PET scanners), making the Explorer an attractive option in pediatric medicine.
