Facial Stickers Could Help Robots Read Moods

Facial Stickers Could Help Robots Read Moods
Apr-30-15
In an effort to make human/robot interactions more natural, a team of scientists has developed a facial sticker that helps the robot interpret human expressions.

Created by a team lead by Nae-Eung Lee, the elastic, transparent sticker is made up of two different types electrically conductive elastomers with a layer of carbon nanotubes between them. When applied to the human user’s face, the sensors were able to detect facial movements and determine whether the person was laughing or crying and in which directing they were looking.

The system could also have applications in the medical field as low-cost health sensors.
