A new compact printhead design could enable the 3D-printers to print an object up to ten times faster than conventional machines.
Developed by a team from MIT, the printer relies on its new printhead design, which feeds the filament faster via a screw mechanism and a built-in laser that melts the material for a quicker flow. Called FastFFF, the system can print an object in minutes instead of almost an hour, with a comparable resolution.
