Flexible Batteries Could Power Wearable Electronics

Flexible Batteries Could Power Wearable Electronics
Jun-18-15
Taking inspiration from origami, researchers have created a stretchable battery that could be used to power wearable electronics.

The battery’s design was developed by Hanqing Jiang of Arizona State University, and is based on the Miura-ori fold—created to help pack large surface areas into small spaces. To create the battery, sheets of aluminum foil were coated with a slurry of graphite and lithium, and then folded into long, flexible sheets that could be sewn into a wristband or headband.
