Embedded with LED’s and folded into the shape of a conventional light bulb, the NanoLight shines as brightly as a 100W bulb while using only 12 watts of electricity.
For an LED bulb to shine at a higher wattage its volume must be increased, which in turn causes heat problems and shortens the lifespan of the bulb. The NanoLight avoids this problem by attaching an array of small LEDs onto a folded circuit board, allowing the LEDs to withstand heat. The arrangement of the LEDs also creates an omnidirectional light and, unlike compact fluorescent lights, the NanoLight reaches full brightness instantly, and is not affected by being frequently turned off and on.
The NanoLight is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, and has already doubled its funding goal.
