The FoodTracker AI-powered app can identify the nutrient content in foods instantly from a smartphone image.
The FoodTracker app was developed by a team from McGill University as a way to help with nutrition education and monitoring. Designed to be simple to use, the app relies on a photo taken with the smartphone and a deep convolutional neural network combined with the YOLO detection strategy. This powerful system allows the app to draw from an extensive library of food images to identify the item in question and display its nutritional analysis, with no further input required by the user.
