Ghost Minitaur Quadruped Robot Climbs Fences, Opens Doors

Ghost Minitaur Quadruped Robot Climbs Fences, Opens Doors
Oct-02-16
The cat-sized Ghost Minitaur robot from Ghost Robotics brings an affordable alternative to the more expensive quadruped robots on the market.

The Minitaur four-legged robot is just over 15 inches long and weighs 13 pounds, making it much smaller than typical quadruped robots. The agile bot is able to climb stairs or fences, or even open doors (with lever handles), and can be controlled via a remote. Instead of gears, each of the Minitaur’s legs is powered by a direct drive motor, which can be coupled with a force feedback system to allow the bot to sense changes in terrain and adapt to compensate.
