Graphene-Coated Contact Lens Protects the Eye

Graphene-Coated Contact Lens Protects the Eye
Mar-02-17
Researchers have created a graphene-coated contact lens that could protect the eye from radiation and dehydration.

The lenses, from a team at Seoul National University, were made by using CVD to synthesize a layer of graphene on copper foil. The graphene layer was then transferred to the contact lens, where it conformed to the curved surface. In tests, the lens proved effective at blocking electromagnetic waves, as well as preventing evaporation, which could dry out the eyes.
