Green Mango Skins Clean Oil Waste

Green Mango Skins Clean Oil Waste
Oct-02-18
Nanoparticles derived from the skin of the green mango could be used to safely remove oil sludge waste from contaminated soil.

The innovative cleaning material was developed by a team from the University of South Australia using nanoparticles synthesized from the extract of green mango peel and mixed with iron chloride. The resulting ‘zero valent iron nanoparticles’ can break down organic components, removing over 90 percent of the total petroleum hydrocarbons in a sample after one week of treatment.
