High-Res 3D-Scanner Replaces Lasers with Infrared

High-Res 3D-Scanner Replaces Lasers with Infrared
May-07-17
A new high-res, near-infrared 3D scanner from the team at Fraunhofer could have applications ranging from medicine to gaming.

The Fraunhofer scanner replaces the lasers of typical 3D scanners with a pattern of infrared light. As a sequence of near-infrared patterns is projected on the object, a pair of cameras monitor the patterns to record numerous measurement points. That information is then used by the system’s software to calculate the 3D data in milliseconds.

Could also some wireless information be given infrared? Visually impaired and people tired with nonstop internet would receive only on-site information. Safer payment systems?
