Honda Catcher's Mitt Airbag Cradles the Head

Aug-27-19 Honda’s unique new airbag takes on the shape of a catcher’s mitt to better reduce the chances on injury.

The new airbag is an improvement over standard bag-like shapes, and replaces the single inflatable compartment with four components. The three inflated compartments form a wide protective barrier along the dash, while the ‘sail panel’ extends along the outermost edge of the side chamber to catch and decelerate the head, reducing the effects of the impact.
