HyperSolar Creates Clean Energy from Sunlight and Water

HyperSolar Creates Clean Energy from Sunlight and Water
Jun-20-16
Inspired by photosynthesis, the startup HyperSolar has created an innovative new way to produce clean hydrogen energy using solar power and water.

The procedure relies on a solar-powered electrochemical device that, once placed in water, will convert the water to hydrogen that can then be stored like a battery. Any type of water can be used, including sea water and waste water, and the energy can be harvested by converting the hydrogen back into its lower energy water state.

The team is currently working to make the process more affordable and more robust in order to scale up the technology, where it could find applications in hydrogen powered cars.
