iCPooch Video Chat for Dogs

iCPooch Video Chat for Dogs

Chat with your pet whenever you like with the iCPooch, a video-chat, treat-delivery system that lets pet owners visit their pets from anywhere with an internet connection.

The iCPooch prototype was developed by 14-year old Brook Martin, an entrepreneur and dog-lover. The device is powered by a Raspberry Pi and is equipped with a WiFi module that allows it to connect to the internet. Once the treats have been loaded into a removable sleeve inside the device, the pet owner can trigger a treat release remotely, using their smartphone.

The video chat option, however, requires that the user supply their own smartphone. Two brackets on the front of the iCPooch are positioned to hold the phone just above the treat tray, allowing the dog to see the owner’s face, and vice versa. While there are other remote treat-dispensing devices, the iCPooch is the first that lets the dog see its human. It has already exceeded its funding goal on Kickstarter.
