ID-Cap Tracks Medication Ingestion

Mar-29-19 The ID-Cap System from etectRx tracks medication ingestion in real time to help ensure proper adherence to therapy.

The ID-Cap System was developed for use with a daily dose HIV-prevention drug in order to understand how to increase adherence.

The system includes the ID-Capsule, which holds the medication and an ingestible ID-Tag, as well as a Reader worn around the neck. Once the capsule has been swallowed, the ID-Tag is released into the body along with the medicine, where it emits a very low-power radio signal that is detected by the Reader. The Reader then communicates with a companion app via Bluetooth to transmit the “patient ingestion event” in real time to a dashboard accessible by both the patient and the physician.
