iHear Self-Diagnosing Hearing Aid System

iHear Self-Diagnosing Hearing Aid System
Mar-28-14
The iHear hearing aid can significantly lower the cost of hearing aid devices by allowing the users to conduct their own hearing tests and calibrate the device themselves.

Created by Adnand Shennib, the iHear is meant to bridge the gap between the inexpensive, preset hearing aids and the more expensive specifically-tuned versions that can cost thousands of dollars. The system has already surpassed its funding goal on Indiegogo.

The system consists of a kidney-bean sized hearing aid and the test kit: a USB device, specially designed in-ear headphones and the online platform. To first test their amount of hearing loss, the user attaches the USB device to their computer and dons the headphones. This allows them to access the online diagnostics to determine their degree of hearing loss. Once the amount of hearing loss has been quantified, the personally tailored iHear hearing aid is sent to the user.
