IMPACT Prosthetic Can Be Printed in Ten Hours

IMPACT Prosthetic Can Be Printed in Ten Hours
Nov-16-19
The innovative IMPACT bionic could hand be ordered online and custom 3D-printed in just ten hours—drastically shortening the typical time to delivery.

The IMPACT prosthetic in development by a team at Warwick University features embedded circuitry made from silver-based conductive ink and an articulated thumb. Integrated sensors in the device can detect the muscle activity in the wearer’s arm, triggering the movable thumb to move in and out and enable the wearer to grip objects.

The team has also created a website that will allow users to order the prosthetic through the manufacturer after specifying parameters such as device color and arm measurement.
