Injectable Bandage Made of Food Thickener

Injectable Bandage Made of Food Thickener
Apr-03-18
An injectable bandage made of a food thickening agent could help treat soldiers on the battlefield.

Created by a team from Texas A&M University, the bandage consists of a hydrogel made from Kappa-carrageenan, a common food gelling agent, combined with synthetic two-dimensional nanosilicates. The nanoparticles not only enhance blood clotting, they also contain biomacromolecules that speed wound healing and tissue regeneration.
