Intelligent Baidu Dubike Generates Its Own Power

Dec-18-14 The self-powered Baidu Dubike smart e-bike packs coverts the rider-generated kinetic energy into electricity to power its array of sensors.

Created by Baidu (one of China's web services companies) and designers at Tsinghua University, the DuBike gathers its power through regenerative electric tech, so charging the bike is never an issue. It is equipped with an integrated system able to monitor health stats such as heart rate and pedal pressure, and features an easy-to-use handlebar-mounted navigation system that eliminates the need for a smartphone. The bike's generated power can also be used to charge small devices.

The developers hope to eventually use the bike's OS to create crowdsourced maps and fitness programs that can be shared among riders.
