Invisible, Waterproof LightRail Zipper

Invisible, Waterproof LightRail Zipper
Jan-19-14
The LightRail zipper, recently developed for Olympic teams, zips closed to create a waterproof, almost invisible seam.

Columbia Sportwear has been developing the LightRail Zipper for the past few years, and debuted it on the jackets the company was contracted to produce for the US, Canadian and Russian teams. The zipper is bonded to the clothing using laser-cut fabric and an adhesive that is similar to seam tape, which reduces weight and bulkiness and eliminates the need for stitching. The zipper also features a dock for the zipper head, which allows it to close more tightly and eliminate gaps.
