Jaguar Self-Driving Pod Build Trust with Light Bars

Jan-26-19 A new projection technology from Jaguar increases pedestrian trust by signaling the intentions of driverless cars.

As self-driving cars continue to take to the roads, the challenge remains to ensure humans also take to the technology. To that end, the team from Jaguar Land Rover have developed a projection system for driverless cars that will display the vehicle’s intentions in the form of a series of horizontal bars that shine onto the road’s surface ahead. The gaps between the bars will widen as the vehicle accelerates and grow shorter as it slows, as well as creating an arc to indicate if the car is going to turn left or right.
