Jon Teether Exercises Jaw Muscles

Jon Teether Exercises Jaw Muscles
Dec-21-19
Designed for children with Down syndrome, the Jon teether encourages children to bite and chew on it to help develop stronger jaw muscles.

One common characteristic of children with Down syndrome is weaker muscles and a tongue that protrudes from the mouth—leading to slower development of eating and speaking. To help encourage infants to develop those muscles, Hannah Ferrill of Purdue University designed the Jon teether, named after her older brother who was born with Down syndrome and passed away at a few months. The Jon is shaped like a teddy bear, with ears that will light up and play music when bitten—encouraging active chewing. The teether will also remain malleable when cold, providing relief from teething pains.
