Kivona Roboticcs Movo Robot for Robot Researchers
May-28-19
The two-armed Movo robot from Kinova Robotics was designed to help researchers build better robots.

The Movo mobile manipulator robot was developed for use in robotics research, and can be equipped with one or both arms and a set of grippers,. It navigates via its omnidirectional wheels, LiDAR unit and head-mounted Kinect One camera, and can also be operated by remote control. An onboard Intel CPU processes the bot’s collected data, while its rechargeable battery will offer up to eight hours of operation.

According to Kinova's innovation advisor Jérôme Bedard, "A lot of researchers will use it for SLAM [simultaneous localization and mapping] research. It's a complete model that exists for doing research on how a robot will scan the environment and move around it."
