LarvalBot Delivers Coral Babies to the Barrier Reef

LarvalBot Delivers Coral Babies to the Barrier Reef
Oct-29-18
The LarvalBot underwater robot aims to help save the Great Barrier Reef by seeding it with coral larvae.

Developed as part of the Great Barrier Reef Foundation’s Out of the Blue Box Reef Innovation Challenge, the LarvalBot would spread spawn from corals that have survived past bleaching events over the vulnerable areas of the Reef during spawning events. The team hopes the additional larvae will increase the baby coral population while also allowing the coral to be seeded in specific areas.
