A soft and flexible liquid metal pressure sensor could have applications in real-time health monitoring and early disease detection.
The pressure sensor, developed by a team from KAIST, was achieved with the help of 3D printing. The device features a rigid, 3D-printed microbump array and microchannel that offer enhanced pressure sensitivity. The device can also withstand more than 10,000 bending and stretching cycles, making it ideal for use in wearable monitors.
Using the material, the team has already created a pulse-monitoring wristband and a heel pressure monitoring system.
